The 2018 Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree raises over $733,000!

Connecting donors to groups and organizations that match their charitable interest is an important role of the Adams County Community Foundation.  One of the ways we help facilitate that connection is through our annual Giving Spree.

The Giving Spree is Adams County’s annual day of giving. It provides an opportunity for anyone to meet with and support scores of local nonprofits.  The 2018 event was held on Thursday, November 8 at the Gettysburg Area Middle School 37 Lefever Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.

During the Giving Spree, donors could make their contributions throughout the day, online through the Community Foundation’s website or they could attend a special reception for giving or the Giving Spree event held at Gettysburg Area Middle School.  Representatives from 80 nonprofits were on hand to answer questions and provide updates on goals and projects and to explain how a gift could make an impact.

Every donation is returned to support the efforts of the eighty nonprofits registered with an additional $45,000 provided in direct or stretch pool funds from the J. William Warehime Foundation Fund at ACCF, Thomas E. and Florence B. Metz Fund at ACCF and Knouse Foods Fund at ACCF.  Those matching funds include special Giving Spree “Coins” given to the first thousand guests who attended the event. Attendees dropped their coin in one organization’s “piggy bank” resulting in an additional $10 gift to that organization.

To support our host for the evening, we encouraged donors to bring one or more of the following items for Gettysburg Area Middle School classrooms: Hand Sanitizer, Wet Wipes, Soft Facial Tissues and Absorbent Paper Towels.
