(Gettysburg, PA: 08-13-2021) — The Adams County Community Foundation has announced $70,084 in additional grants from the Community Foundation’s Fund for Adams County. Supported by individuals, families and businesses, this Fund is a permanent, growing endowment dedicated to addressing the evolving needs of Adams County. These new grants supplement $151,750 awarded in June of this year.
Adams County Grants focus on three priorities:
• Strengthening nonprofit organizations that help our most vulnerable residents,
• Helping low-income people move toward self-sufficiency, and
• Encouraging collaboration toward significant common goals.
Supplemental 2021 Adams County Grants are listed below.
Adams County Arts Council – $16,500
This challenge grant will help the Arts Council to raise the additional funding needed to expand the Resource and Outreach Development position to full-time. The person in this position helps to strengthen ACAC’s financial sustainability and bring arts programming to a broader audience of Adams County residents: students, seniors, people of diverse cultures, and low-income households.
Pennsylvania Interfaith Community Programs, Inc. (PICPI) – $5,584
This grant will serve as the local match needed to leverage $47,320 in federally funded Community Development Block Grants for two projects that help low-income families achieve housing stability. One project provides renters with security deposit assistance of up to $750 per household. The other provides up to $3,000 in down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers.
Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center (PIRC) – $13,000
This grant will support help for legal immigrants in Adams County as they navigate the process of attaining citizenship, creating a secure path to independence.
YWCA Gettysburg and Adams County – $25,000
This grant supports the position of Mission Enhancement Director, which is focused on improving the lives of women and minorities in Adams County.
Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree Stretch Pool – $10,000
This grant seeds the “stretch pool” for the Community Foundation’s annual Giving Spree. At the close of the Giving Spree, the total amount in the stretch pool is distributed to the participating nonprofits in proportion to the donations received by each on the day of the Giving Spree. This year 90+ nonprofits will participate in the Giving Spree, set for November 5, 2021.
