Biglerville, PA – Upper Adams School District 10/20/2020 –
The Canner Funds, the education foundation for the Upper Adams School District, today announced a 2020 grant total of $23,293.42 to help offset unexpected district costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its inception, the Canner Funds focused on providing classroom grants to enhance the educational experience of UASD students. This year, when schools were mandated to close, classroom grants could no longer be utilized. That’s when the Canner Funds advisory board members listened to the district’s needs and stepped in to help.
Dr. Wesley Doll, Superintendent, shared, “We did not anticipate Upper Adams would need to close all district buildings and create plans to provide remote learning to our students. The Canner Funds group was proactive and offered direct support to the district to provide students access for instructional engagement to continue remotely.”
“Canner Funds is pleased to assist UASD in its efforts to provide continuity of education for our students during this critical time,” said Rick Crouse, president of Canner Funds advisory board. “Our gifts have been used to improve the quality of education for many of our students, and we’re thankful for donors who recognize that value and choose to show their support.”
Canner Funds, conceived in 2010 as a fund of the Adams County Community Foundation, supports the students of UASD with unrestricted grants where traditional budgets may fall short. Its mission is to help prepare students for life after graduation. To learn more please visit www.cannerfunds.com. The organization will participate once again in the annual Giving Spree event, which will be held virtually on November 5, 2020. Canner Funds is hopeful for a strong turnout of community support!
