(Gettysburg, PA: 07/14/2020) The Adams County Community Foundation has awarded the second round of grants from its COVID-19 Relief & Recovery Fund bringing the total amount awarded to $138,117. The Fund directs charitable grants to area nonprofits struggling to meet the extraordinary needs of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic and related economic downturn.
Through the COVID-19 Fund, the Community Foundation tracks the shifting needs created by the pandemic to deploy grant dollars effectively. As additional gifts from the community are received, the Community Foundation will search out unmet needs and award additional grants in the third and final round in July. In June grants were made to the following:
Adams County Arts Council – $7,280 to increase the safety of on-site classes and technology for virtual classes.
Adams County Farmers Market – $ 4,000 for additional staff time to manage the increased online ordering and processing vendor payments for the additional customers receiving food subsidies.
Adams County Library System – $ 5,700 to comply with best practices for staff and consumer safety upon re-opening.
Central Pennsylvania Food Bank – $8,000 to address increasing food insecurity in Adams County.
Children’s Aid Society – $2,500 for continuity of care, including HIPPA compliant video conferencing software and purchase of PPE for use at the Nicarry Center in New Oxford.
Jean Barnett Trone Memorial Library of East Berlin – $2,000 for PPE and storage to comply with Office of Commonwealth Libraries and CDC guidelines.
Pennsylvania Interfaith Community Programs, Inc. – $12,000 for the required local match to apply for CDBG COVID-19 emergency assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities.
South Central Community Action Programs, Inc. – $12,000 for emergency financial assistance and personalized stability planning.
Totem Pole Playhouse – $6,200 to maintain skeletal operating costs (utilities, internet, phone, staff) during the shutdown.
Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. – $5,750 for devices and internet connectivity to provide online programs to high risk and high needs children, youth and young adults.
