Grants & Scholarships

The Adams County Community Foundation offers a variety of grant, scholarships, and special initiatives to meet community needs.

Grants

Nonprofits are invited to apply to one or more of our competitive grant programs.  Grants are also awarded from donor-advised and designated funds created by donors for specific purposes; these funds are not open for grant applications.

Scholarship

Scholarships are available for Adams County residents seeking post-secondary education.

Initiatives and Advocacy

The Community Foundation uses all available resources to help make our community a better place for all residents. We invest financially, distributing grants from the charitable funds entrusted to us. But we also use the relationships and the influence that come from collective philanthropy.

The Community Foundation advocates for its donors’ interests on issues relating to philanthropy. We led a statewide legislative effort to end scholarship displacement, the practice of colleges reducing a student’s financial aid by the amount of the student’s private scholarship. Banning this practice will mean that our scholarship donors’ intention of helping students achieve their educational goals will be carried out effectively and transparently.

The Giving Spree, Adams County’s day of giving, helps introduce donors to scores of local nonprofits doing great work in Adams County. Donors can give for “today” to meet current needs and/or make a “forever” gift to build endowments for ongoing support.

The At Home in Adams County initiative is an effective partnership of residents, business, public and private nonprofits working together to address complex, interrelated issues facing Adams County residents: safe, affordable housing, transportation, and workforce development.
